Happy Halloween!

My sister put up all her old Halloween pictures, and I thought it was a good idea. So in anticipation of the reveal of our costumes this year, here are the last 3 years of Halloween for the Carlile's. Last year, Abe was the only one with a unique costume. I was due Nov. 6th, but had a pretty good idea that I'd be early, so we didn't put a lot of effort into something we might not even wear. We went to the Ward trunk or treat and then I went into labor that very night...10 days early! Of course, Ken and I had to rig something up for the little guy. So here he is, 4 days old, as his namesake, Abraham Lincoln.
Sorry for the crooked picture, couldn't fix it. Anyway, this is Halloween 2006, the Eygptian edition. We also had awesome mummy, gold, and hieroglyphics in our trunk, with a big pyramid on top of the car, but didn't get a picture.

And here is Halloween 2005, the first Halloween Ken and I spent together. We'd been dating for only about 6 weeks, but had fun coming up with coordinating costumes and painting our pirate flag. We had kids walking the plank in the parking lot in order to get their candy that year! I guess it was a match, destined to be!!Happy Halloween!!!

I'm a Big Boy Now!!

Our little baby turned one today, can you believe it? We had the Boyers, our old neighbors the Bories, and our good friend Aaron Terry over for a cake and icecream celebration. Abe was SO excited to have so many friends at his house. I really thought that he would be more into all the wrapping paper, but he wasn't too interested. He loved all the toys though and had a great time playing with all his new loot. The highlight of the evening was definately the eating of the cake. In this case, a picture is worth a thousand words. I made Abe a Dump Truck cake (it is really a bunch of cupcakes), but we thought Abe needed more than a cupcake to dig in. I was pretty nervous to make his cake, since all my sisters and sister-in-laws are amazing at cake making. I think his turned out well though and I was proud of it. Sorry for the overload of pictures, I'll just post my favorites and put the rest in a slideshow. Happy Birthday Buddy! We love you!One of his favorite new toys.Another favorite.

There were so many of these pictures that were just adorable! I would have posted them all, but you'll have to look through the slideshow to see the rest!

Trying to get him clean was an event in and of itself! Here is the cute duck Aunt Jessie sent.

Abe is Walking!

Abe actually started doing this a couple weeks ago, but we haven't gotten a good film of it until now. He's doing really well and I'm sure it won't be long until he really takes off!
Sorry it is sideways, I couldn't figure out how to fix that!

North Carolina State Fair

Today was Hunger Relief Day at the State Fair, so Abe and I packed up some canned food and headed out for some fun. Abe loved seeing ALL the people, and believe me, it was packed. He just laughed and talked and held his hand out to get high fives from all the kids we passed. His favorite though was the petting zoo. The woman in front of us had some feed and put some in Abe's hand. The look on his face was priceless when a camel licked it right out. He kept looking at his hand to see if it had really happened. Unfortunately we couldn't bring strollers in, so I had to hold Abe and our only pictures of the camel are from after we left. Abe also found all his friends from his favorite show, Super Why! We had to get pictures with them, of course. All the deep fried and fattening food smelled so good, that before leaving we did indulge and share a funnel cake. A yummy ending to a fun day.

My attempt to get the two of us in a picture together.

Who pushed who in a stroller for 3 hours???

Our Halloween Celebration

On Friday, we had some friends of ours over for a special Halloween dinner. I look forward to Dinner in a Pumpkin all year long! I wish we'd gotten some better pictures of the spread, but our meal consisted of: Dinner in a Pumpkin, Brain Jello with Worms, and Meringue Bones. We made Halloween sugar cookies too. We had so much fun. After dinner the girls showed off their adorable costumes and then we had a karaoke party! We finally got most of our decorations up (the ones Abe won't destroy) and it made us so excited for Halloween!!

(When Mom came out when Abe was born, we talked her into wearing this wig, red snakeskin leather pants, and a disco ball necklace to our ward trunk or treat....groovy)

I couldn't let this moment pass by without taking a picture. How cute is that! It was then followed by Abe's first lick of the mixer...a huge moment in someone's life...

11 Month Birthday!!!

I know, I'm running late on Abe's birthday post again, but not as late this month as last! Our little baby has become quite the little boy lately. He is wearing mostly 18 month clothes now and at his last doctor visit he weighed just over 24.5 lbs. He is a big cruiser and loves to push things around. No steps on his own yet, though. He has really started interacting with us during play, which has been so much fun. He still loves his cars and trucks and trains and you will usually see him with one of those in his hands (or one in each hand!) He is eating mostly table foods now and his newest favorite is grilled cheese sandwiches. He now signs "more", "milk" and "finished". He makes lots and lots of sounds and is continually babbling to himself. He has started climbing on furniture and has been mastering going up the stairs. We were excited to turn his car seat front facing and he loves being able to interact in the car and see more. He is such a happy, happy boy and so sweet. We're very excited for his birthday coming up later this month!!!

Day Off....

Ken gave me a great surprise today and took the day off! We went to IHOP for breakfast (I had their cinnamon roll french toast...divine!) and then ran some other errands and just spent time together. It was so nice to just have an extra day to spend together as a family. Unfortunately, I only got one picture to represent the day, fortunately it is really cute.

(anyone wondering about the Silver Shamrock reference, it is from Halloween 3, which I have not seen, but Ken has...and loves. Here is a link to a commercial from the movie:
