Two Month Birthday!!

I can't believe that our little buddy is two months old already! He is getting so big. We are taking bets at how much he'll weigh on his two month appointment, which is set for January 9th! He is smiling and giggling so much now, and really is starting to love his toys and looking at bright, colorful things. It is so fun to watch him entertain himself!! He has recently found his hands and loves to play with them. We put him in his Chipmunk shirt because he is constantly making a little chipmunk giggling sound. We love you Abe!

Christmas with the Carlile's

We had a great Christmas here in North Carolina. Christmas Eve, however, wasn't as fun. I had procastinated Christmas PJs a little and in my haste Abe's and Ken's were both too small. They wore them for pictures and then had to take them off. I gues I should get on the ball and give myself some more time next year. On Christmas day, Abraham let us sleep in until 8:00 or so and then we opened presents. We had a lot of fun, especially when I opened my Nurf gun and Ken pulled one hiding from behind his back. We had a great Nurf fight until Abe got hit in the eye (A Christmas story? "You're gonna shoot your eye out!"). We spent our day relaxing and had the missionaries over for dinner and games later in the afternoon. Even though we missed being with our families we had a fun day together.

Merry Christmas!!

We were so happy when Daddy caught Abe's smile on camera. We thought he was too young to understand Christmas...but someone is clearly excited for Santa!
We are spending Abraham's first Christmas by ourselves here in North Carolina. A few weeks ago we learned we needed a new furnace and air conditioner, so Santa came early and brought Kim an air conditioner and Ken a furnace. Not too glamorous, but we are happy with it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEN!!!

Last Thursday, December 13th was Ken's birthday! He got some great gifts and right in the middle of his birthday dinner, Abe gave him the kind of present he gives best...the kind he leaves in his diaper!

A Baby Blessing

On Sunday, December 2 we gave Abraham his baby blessing. Ken's parents were able to come out and be here, along with my sister Tami and her family and a few close friends. Ken's sister Kristy sent us the cute, white tuxedo that he is wearing and he just looked so adorable. It was a beautiful day and one we will always remember.

One Month Birthday!!

Abraham turned one month old on November 27th! Here is his best birthday picture! It has been one of the most challenging, but also rewarding months of our lives. Abe is such a good baby and we are so happy to have him in our lives. He's beginning to smile at us and focus on our faces and it is so fun to see his little personality emerge...now if we could only do something about that gas!!!!

I Love my Cousins!

While Grandma Tucker (aka Grandma Red) was here visiting, we met up with Aunt Tami and cousin Madison and went to Lake Wheeler park. We had fun on the rocking chairs and Grandma couldn't get enough of her little Grandchildren. Madison loves "Baby A" and signs baby everytime she sees him! While I was feeding Abe, he was hidden under a blanket and Maddie went around signing, "baby, where" and looking for him. It was adorable!!!

We are glad that Abe came a little early so that he could spend some time with his Later cousins too before they moved to CT. We all gathered at the Boyers to say goodbye on the day that Grandma left. What a crew! After living by (or with) the Laters for the last five years, we are going to miss having them around!

Abraham's First Halloween

After weeks of sadly passing up all the cute baby Halloween clothes (because Abe wasn't due until Nov 4) I had to send Ken on an emergency run to Target so he would have something appropriate to wear for our favorite Holiday!!
We knew exactly what we wanted for Abraham's first Halloween costume! Abraham Lincoln is a personal hero of mine and one of the reason's little Abe has his name. He was a good sport with the hat and the beard and let's face it, doesn't he look adorable?!?!?!? (Don't worry, we only kept it on him for a few minutes!)

Someone called us out on our "cute" nursery, saying it wasn't a true Carlile nursery ... that is just because we hadn't introduced them to Uncle Jason yet! He is a great sitter for Abraham and I must admit, we don't worry that anyone will try and hurt our son while he is in Uncle Jason's care!

Every hour he starts to look more and more like a little boy! It is fun to see all the changes. Mom was happy that he had a head full of dark hair!!!
He has the most beautiful, big eyes!

The Nursery

Ken worked hard to get the nursery ready. After we picked out the crib set we wanted he got to work and painted the nursery and the five pictures to match. I must admit that I love the monkies hanging from the vine! Now all we need is a baby!!!!

Baby Shower

My sisters Tami and Charlotte had a baby shower for me on September 15th. It was so much fun. They planned a lot of great games and I think everyone had a good time. I even allowed a few pictures that showed my big old belly to be taken! A rare opportunity indeed!
My mom sent me a package that arrived on the day of my shower. She had made a beautiful afghan as well as blankets, burp cloths, and a car seat blanket. They were all so cute! Of course there was a red baby outfit included too!

Voldemort

My book club met at our house for our August meeting, the book being...Harry Potter 7, of course. Ken and I had fun getting everything ready, but I must admit although Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans were a hit, Voldemort stole the show! Ken built him from scratch and he has haunted our dining room every since. The first night he was finished and displayed I had trouble sleeping, so I went out into the front room to sit. One of our "floating" candles and accidentally switched on and it eerily lit up Voldemort's face. I must admit it creeped me out enough that I had to leave and go back into our bedroom!!

Welcome!
