Gingerbread (aka Graham Cracker) Houses

On Sunday we hosted a big Home Teaching Extravaganza at our house. We had an interactive Nativity with the kids and then decorated Gingerbread Houses. Yes, we use graham crackers, not real gingerbread...it is just SO much easier that way. Then the men played some fuze ball and the women chatted and the kids ran wild and played. We had a really fun evening, although Abe lasted all of 10 seconds in making his house. What's the point of putting it on the house if you can eat it, right? He loved having so many friends over at his house though! This was as good as we could get with the whole Nativity together. Abe and the other little girl were the sheep for the shepards. It was too cute, but they weren't too sure about what was going on.
Yummy candy!!

What I great idea. It looks like you had so much fun and such a learning experience. Another great tradition started?

I like that Ken was the angel, I know that the angels talked about in the scriptures were basically all men, but still I always think of a female angel...glad your nativity was doctrinally sound ;) Sound like fun.

I remember acting out the Nativity story when I was younger. It was one of my favorite parts of Christmas.

My youngest ate the candy the second I put it on the house also.

I love doing the nativity. My sister's family does it every Christmas Eve and it is a really fun tradition. Looks like another good Carlile family party!

Um... have you seen the terrible Nicolas Cage movie about angels? I can't hear the term "sexy angel" without being a little grossed out. Because Nicolas Cage should never play the role of a good guy. It is creepy. Yes, that has nothing to do with your post, except you brought back that memory so I thought all should suffer.
