Its a Small, Small World

So, we had a new couple, Mark and Rebecca, move into our ward recently. To get to know them better Ken and I had them over for Sunday dinner and games. They had arrived and we were waiting for the rolls to come out of the oven and doing a basic get to know you chat. We asked them where they'd grown up and found that Mark had lived in Sandy. Then we found out he went to Jordan High. Then we found out he graduated in 1998. WHAT????? I went to Jordan High and graduated in 1998. Our class was so big that not only did we not know each other, but when we each reeled off our list of friends I knew NONE of his and he knew only one of mine because they'd been in the same class in elementary or something. Later as we were playing cards, I had to laugh as I thought, "In high school who'd have ever thought we'd one day be sitting in Raleigh, NC playing cards?" On a side note, we like to have punishments when we play cards. Our evening that night included sour lemon juice "shots" and soy joy bars for the losers. Luckily the girls won! I love that you can see Rebecca in the background wiping away the laughing tears from her eyes!

That is weird that you could go to the same high school and not even know about each other or your friends. Nice to make friends that are somewhat from the same place as you. Looks like a good reason to cheat to win the game.

That is so strange. My class was not even half the size of yours and there were still people I didn't know at all. I just looked through my yearbook and though, oh...I dont remember you, or you or you. Glad you had fun.

I can't believe you didn't even have common friends. Weird. And I think I will not play card games with you. Especially if Tami is playing because she always beats me.

That probably means he wasn't cool enough to know you back then. You were cool weren't you?

I met a man in Dallas last month and after we got to talking he was in my graduating class too. It was so weird - especially since there were only 50 in my graduating class. His name was John Rusk!

I love that the punishment was to eat a soyjoy bar...maybe you could submit that to them for an advertising campaign!!
